| Video Database maintenance module for Image Mine Gold | |
| Image Library Gold Edition |
Image Library is the required database maintenance module for Image Mine® Gold Edition. This application enables easy field setups, direct data editing, packing and addition or modification to user profiles. Image Library includes automated video and thumbnail mapping and storage, and text string indexing.
How it Works
During normal operation, Image Mine uses Standard Query Language (SQL) commands to communicate between modules and the "closed" database files (in other words, the database application itself is not running).
Database files are automatically appended and indexed when a log is "sent" to Image Library from TEPHD Gold video logger. Unique labels or "barcodes" are assigned to each new log file (tape) as its data (individual clips) are merged into the database.
Media objects including thumbnail frame grab images and video files (MPEG encoding option required) are stored in linked folders in virtual mapped drives. This allows easy scalability--add more drives as your media library storage needs grow.
Image Library is normally installed on your organization's server. However, it may simply be located on a dedicated workstation if desired. You must have administrator level privileges to enter this module.
Low Maintenance
Once configured for your data fields and users, Image Library is low maintenance. You need not access it unless data structure is changing or you need to add or delete users.
Text indices are maintained by a separate, external applet called TextDB. This indexer engine is automatically appended whenever new clips are added to the database via TEPHD "Send" function. If you frequently remove or overwrite existing clips you'll want to re-index TextDB on a scheduled basis (monthly) to avoid blank "hits" in search results. This rebuilding only takes a few minutes and isn't necessary unless you make a lot deletions.
Work with What You Have
Unlike other asset management systems, with Image Mine you can roll over existing data files for single-source access to all past, present and future media information. Imagine Products will work with you to merge from past databases (e.g. Access, File Maker Pro, etc.) or The Executive Producer log files as part of the installation (free!). Conversions from multiple historical log files (e.g. Log Master, Log Producer, text files, etc.) or EDLs into a single database are available for a nominal per file charge.
Image Mine also can retain your existing library numbering/labeling system and shelf organization in tandem with its unique barcode assignments. This helps make the transition smoother and retains the integrity of your archives and naming conventions.
Image Mine is the perfect solution for mixed assets in the analog to digital domains. With TEPHD Gold as the front-end, you can create and store browse quality MPEG-1 video along with JPEG thumbnails and text descriptions with timecode. From any connected desktop you can perform "desktop screening"--selecting only the desired portions of video clips for your project. Easily mix archived material with new source video and take it to the non-linear editor.
Image Library Gold also features a fast, web-enabled indexer engine. This allows Image Browse Web clients, and TEPHD workstations, to quickly find appropriate material and run video clips across the web or Intranet.
